Hi everyone, this week we are going to talk about El Elyon, this is God Most High, The Most Exalted God.

These blogs are not just about sharing a name of God with you, but how we can all experience His power in our lives.
He is the ultimate and highest authority over all.
He is the strong creator who is the highest, higher than any other.
Micah 5.2 – He is from forever, from ancient times.
He is the Most High in everything, in holiness, power and goodness.
The meaning of this name in Paleo Hebrew is:
He is the strength, your leader, who watches over all your life experiences by connecting Himself to you.
He is seated high to watch over your life and to connect to you.
He is infinite, powerful and sovereign, creating everything by His Word.
He watches over us as a loving father.
He is connected to us and trains us like a young ox is yoked to an older, more experienced ox to learn from one who is steady and stable.
Jesus says, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from my, for I am lowly and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls, because my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
We are perfectly loved by El Elyon.
He is a Father to us, loving us unconditionally.
He is the God above all other gods, there is none higher than Him or before Him.
He is alive, living and active, in charge of all the power systems of the universe.
He sits above our situation and has the right to over-rule and intervene what our situation is dictating to us.
And we are seated in the heavenly places with Him (Ephesians 2.6)
Call on Him when you need a situation over-ruled or God to intervene.
He can overrule and restore what the enemy has taken away.
In Genesis 14.14-16 Abraham pursued the enemy army and brought back Lot, the women and all the goods the enemy had stolen.
God gives the final ruling over our situation.
We call on God who can do what only God can do.
He is infinite and powerful and sovereign, creating galaxies – everything by His word – Jesus is the Word.
He over-rules when the odds are against us. He is the source of power.
Equip and arm yourself with El Elyon, make Him your fortress and your refuge “I will say of the Lord, You are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.”
He will stand at your door and guard you.
Submit to El Elyon and the devil will flee from you.
El Elyon protects you and gives His angels charge over you.
We declare the sovereignty of El Elyon over our lives.
We worship Him and declare His praise.
The fight is beneath our feet, we have overcome, because we are children of El Elyon.
The devil tries to act like he has won when he’s defeated – God is on our side.
El Elyon raised Jesus from the grave.
“For you, LORD (YHWH), are the Most High (El Elyon) over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods.” (Psalm 97:9) (NOG)
The Lord has many names in the Bible which all carry different characteristics of God, to help us know Him better, to experience His power in knowing His promises, faithfulness and goodness, which are our inheritance.
“El Elyon” which means Most High (Deuteronomy 26:19).
El Elyon, God Most High, or sometimes LORD Most High is used through Scripture to refer to the LORD, Creator of heaven and earth.
Psalm 57:2 says, “I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me.”
The Hebrew words translated Hebrew “God Most High” are Elohim or El Elyon, the Most High Powerful Living Word, which means Most High God (Genesis 14:22; Psalm 78:35).
The Most High God is our Redeemer, and He is the Possessor of Heaven and Earth!
In the title LORD Most High, the Hebrew words are God Elohim.
God Most High or LORD Most High means there is no idol, god, or created being that should be worshipped or exalted over the Lord because He is superior in every way.
‘Elyon means “supreme” (as in “Supreme Court”) or “Most High”.
The name Elyon (עליון) occurs in combination with El, YHWH, Elohim and alone.
Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine.
He was priest of God Most High, El Elyon and he blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth.
And praise be to God Most High El Elyon, who delivered your enemies into your hand” (Genesis 14:18-20).
El Elyon was on the side of Abram, when He rescued Lot with only 318 men against 10,000.
He overrules the odds against us.
El Elyon was with Him.
God was Abram’s source, so Abram gave of his resources.
Satan is a defeated foe, we don’t bargain with Him (Genesis 14.20-23).
The king of Sodom was defeated, but he tried to bargain with Abram.
Jesus did not bargain with the Devil and neither should we! (Luke 4.1-13)
El Elyon is greater than the world’s rewards, He is the greatest reward we can have.
He is our source and our portion forever!
Our trust must be in God alone to supply our needs, otherwise we will look for our needs to be supplied some other way.
How many have trampled others to meet their own needs, because they were not trusting in El Elyon?
Whatever we make our source, IS our El Elyon!
Just remember, the Devil comes to kill, steal and destroy, we should not be like him in any way, but like our Father in Heaven!
Is something stolen from us?
We must trust God to return it.
Are our actions destroying or building God’s church?
We need to repent.
He comes to bring us into life in abundance and freedom and above all, the truth in love.
El Elyon causes strongholds to be broken and enemies to flee.
Isaiah 14.11-14
How you have fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How are you cut down to the ground, which weakened the nations.
For you have said in your heart, “I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God Elohim.
I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north.
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High, El Elyon.
Satan wants to be like El Elyon, the Most High, he wants to usurp God’s position in the world and in our lives and to steal His glory.
In his pride he wants to be the Most High, receive glory and take up His authority.
He wants to be our source:
He tells Jesus in the desert, “If you want to you can turn this stone into bread.”
When we do not have the power or resources to solve the problem, El Elyon does!
God chooses to make Himself known to us.
He calls us to make use of His name, to call on Him, the Name above every other Name.
David called on El Elyon.
His name is powerful.
Things move when He speaks.
The people who know their God shall do exploits in His name.
Jesus was given the name above every other name in heaven and on earth, that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, to the glory of God the Father (Romans 14.11) And yet God, El Elyon came down to earth as a little baby. (Isaiah 9 & Luke 2).
Jesus is born of heaven and born of man.
He who holds the oceans in His hands becomes a baby, unable to walk or talk and came to dwell with His people, among us.
The unapproachable God approaches us, and Jesus tore the veil giving us full access to Him!
The Bridegroom
Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall cleave to his wife and they shall be one flesh.
He is our Bridegroom, the one who joins himself to us, so that we are never alone again.
God and his people become one, we share everything we are with Him when we are united with Him in salvation.
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High El Elyon will rest in the shadow of the Almighty El Shaddai.
2 I will say of the LORD Yehovah (Messiah Pre-Incarnate), “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
When we sit, rest and dwell in the shadow of the Almighty, in the secret place, in His shadow, no evil can conquer us.
He becomes our place of refuge, our fortress, our stronghold, our place of trust.
He will deliver us out of trouble, He removes sin from inside us, He is a Saviour who redeems and restores.
He will protect us, no weapon formed against us will prosper.
He covers and protects us through His blood.
He keeps us from falling and picks us up when we do.
He is with us in every trouble and circumstance, we are not alone, He never leaves us or forsakes us.
He is a faithful God in whom no wrong is found.
He alone is my refuge and my place of safety, His faithful promises are our protection.
He satisfies us and gives us His salvation.
We receive peace, He satisfies, saves and secures us.
He will answer us, He is in tune with the cries of our hearts.
I asked for Thai people to minister to and He answered my prayer, and I thank God because He hears the cries of our hearts and knows our desires.
We need to train ourselves in the refuge, in prayer.
We sit in His shelter in the shadow of the Most High God.
“I cry out to God Most High Elohim Elyon, to God, who vindicates me. He sends from heaven and saves me rebuking those who hotly pursue me. God sends forth his love and his faithfulness” (Psalm 57:2-3).(NOG)
And they remembered that God-Elōhīm (The Living Word) [The Many Powered] [was] their rock, and the high God-El ‘Elyon [The Most High Powerful Living Word] their redeemer.
He is our Rock and our Redeemer.
He is the possessor of heaven and earth.
Demons Recognise Jesus as El Elyon
Even the demons recognize that Jesus is the Son of the Most High God, El Elyon and submit to him.
6 The man saw Yeshua at a distance. So he ran to Yeshua, bowed down in front of him, 7 and shouted, “Why are you bothering me now, Yeshua, Son of the Most High God?
Swear to God that you won’t torture me.”
8 He shouted this because Yeshua said, “You evil spirit, come out of the man.”
And we carry that same spirit as disciples of Jesus, which demonic spirits and those carrying them recognize and oppose, but they know that they have to submit to His spirit in us.
Here’s a story from our own lives to illustrate the authority we carry in Jesus.
Alice and the Bully
When we were a host family, many years ago in England, we had a lot of overseas students come to stay with us in our house.
One of these was a girl from Taiwan, called Alice.
She was sweet and tiny and used to greet Dave every night when he came home from work, with his slippers ready at the door!
She often went to Birmingham for extra classes at the weekend and would come home with two boxes of 6 doughnuts from Dunkin’ Donuts!
One day, a friend of her uncle’s came to stay with us and soon, she came to us to tell us she had to leave.
Dave had had a dream that he was bullying her and asked her what was happening.
She told Dave that while we had been on holiday her uncle’s friend had been forcing her to do everything for him, including his shopping, washing and cooking, making her pay for all his groceries.
She had asked him to keep everything tidy, but he started throwing rubbish on the floor and making things a mess in defiance.
He told her that if she complained, he would tell her uncle that she was bad and he would withdraw her funds and she would have to go back home!
He was treating her like a slave and bullying her so Dave told her to leave it with him.
“My God is bigger than him”, Dave told her, “Just watch.”
Dave prayed and asked God to intervene in the situation.
Within the week, the man came and told Dave that he had to leave.
His fiance had also come to live with him and she told him that she hated England and that she wanted to go home and that if he wanted to stay engaged to her, he had to go too!
Next, he found that his college course had been cancelled, as there were not enough students enrolled.
Within a week he was gone!
The slave girl in Acts, also recognized the authority Paul carried in Jesus;
Acts 16.17
17 She used to follow Paul and shout, “These men are servants of the Most High God El Elyon. They’re telling you how you can be saved.”
Demons and sin bow to God in you, in the Name of Jesus.
We are seated in the High Places with Christ, even when we are in the valleys (Psalm 23)
He is elevated to the highest place, lifted up.
Mount Everest inspires awe, because of its elevation, so much more God Most High!
Through Jesus, having His Spirit living inside us, we have authority to evict evil spirits and offer freedom and salvation.
Daniel 2.47 -Truly your God is God of gods.
He is the strongest Strong One, stronger than any weapon formed against you.
No enemy can overtake you or be victorious against Him.
El Elyon fights for you.
He is supreme and has delivered your enemies into your hand.
Our problems are God’s opportunities to prove Himself faithful.
Daniel 4.25 – Till you know that the Most High (El Elyon) rules the kingdom of men and gives it to whom He will.
God rules, He is in charge.
El Elyon has authority over His creation, and we have to submit to Him, either in this life or the life to come.
Like King Nebuchadnezzar, or Satan, if we become arrogant in pride, we have to submit and acknowledge that He is Lord. Remember the authority that you carry in the name of the Most High, when we submit to Him.
