Adventures in Exeter!

One summer our region went on a campaign to Exeter, it was to be another eventful trip packed full of adventure!

Sheep on the Road!

Our campaign started off well, staying at a campsite just outside Exeter.

The brothers woke up to ducks poking their bills in their ears and cows brushing against the sides of the tents!

As we drove the bus down the country lanes into town, we got stuck behind a flock of sheep, which didn’t know whether to go forward or backwards!

In the middle of this the gears on the bus decided to stick and we couldn’t go forwards or backwards either!

Dave wasn’t driving, but he prayed and God told him to, “Switch off the engine and restart it again,” like you would to reboot a computer.

It worked and we were on our way!

Bus Breaks Down

Once we were parked up in town, after an uneventful day, we tried to move the bus again, and we were stuck in the centre of town!

Can I have a Look at Your Bus?

Halfway through the afternoon, a man turned up and asked if he could have a look at our bus.

He told us that he used to work as a mechanic on the buses and always liked to look at them.

We told him that we’d been having some technical difficulties with the bus and so he offered to check it out.

Apparently, he carried his bus tools around with him, even though he was retired and went off to get them from the boot of his car.

Can My Wife Cook For You?

Coming back from his car, he asked, “Can my wife cook a meal for you tonight, she’s Chinese and loves cooking!?”

This was a double blessing and answer to prayer for us, as we’d been eating mostly pasta all week, because that was all the girl in charge of cooking knew how to make!

His wife went off to buy ingredients and got to work cooking a lovely Chinese meal!

Our new friend spent the rest of the day working on the bus and found that our electrics had crossed a wire on the circuit board, which he re-routed back to the right positions.

By the end of the day we were able to operate the bus, which was fine for the next few days.

Sadly, at the end of the campaign the bus broke down again and had to be towed back to the garage, with us inside it, but God got us through to the end of the campaign!

Life is always an adventure with God!
